Harnessing the values of UNESCO titles for sustainable development

An international conference on harnessing UNESCO designations for sustainable development in Vietnam was co-organized on July 3 at Bai Dinh Pagoda, Ninh Binh province, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, and the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee.
The event welcomed the participation of more than 220 delegates and guests including high-ranking leaders of the Party, State, relevant ministries and sectors and provinces and cities of Vietnam; representatives of the leaders of UNESCO, Presidents of the National Commission of the countries in the region, representatives of UNESCO offices and organizations, representative of a number of United Nations organs in Vietnam; domestic and international experts in the fields of conservation, planning, architecture, and economics.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing three key thematic sessions including: Practices of promoting the UNESCO title to serve sustainable development in Vietnam; Sharing international experiences on promoting the UNESCO title for sustainable development and solutions for mobilizing resources in preserving and promoting the value of the UNESCO title for sustainable development. Along with that are field trip programs at Trang An Scenic area, Hoa Lu ancient town; Delegates met and talked with the local community.
The conference aims to summarize and evaluate the practice of preserving and promoting UNESCO titles for sustainable development in Vietnam; share and consult international experiences on preserving and promoting UNESCO titles for sustainable development; propose solutions to mobilize resources and people's participation; make recommendations to preserve and promote the UNESCO title for sustainable development in Vietnam.
